Living Hungry

As I was thinking not so long ago about my religious walk with the Lord, and it has been religious, the Lord started writing a story through my thoughts.
As you may know, I call myself a Christian- I should call myself a student. However, I'm not just a student, I'm His disciple. I learn it and I live it. And yet, there is so much more.

Here's the story- a concept you may relate with:

Imagine having joined a class to learn about an unknown subject. Excited to discover something new, you take a seat, attentive to every word. The teacher introduces himself and a packet of material he will be teaching on. The only material for the class is that packet, which isn't very big. You decide this will be a great class! But, after several months, you become bored. The material hasn't changed. You decide it doesn't matter if you show up to class, because you have basically memorized the packet! You've lost your appetite for the material because it's been exhausted. So, some days, you choose not to show up. The teacher doesn't mind anyway.

Then one day, you glance down at your worn out packet and notice in the top corner of the page, it says, "Chapter One." Curiously you wonder if there's a chapter two. Looking at the teacher, you decide to get out of your seat and approach the teacher and ask about it. He says, "I never thought you would ask! Of course! We'll start on chapter two tomorrow!" Wow! New material!

However, after some time, the joy of new material wears off. You discover that it's actually been quite awhile since you've learned anything new. Then you remember the last time you felt this way; your curiousity sparks, yet again! Is there a chapter three? Getting out of your seat, you approach the teacher asking about the third chapter. He responds, "I'm so glad you asked! Of course, we'll start on chapter three tomorrow!"

That answer, that once satisfied, no longer is good enough. Instead of going back to your seat, you ask, "How many chapters are in this book?" Delighted in your inquisition, he says, "Sixteen." Glancing on his desk behind him, you see a stack of two books. Curiously, you ask, "What are those books?" He glances back at them and looks back at you and joyfully says, "Oh, that's teaching material!" Astonished that there's more material that you haven't learned, wondering how long they've been there, you ask, "Where did you get them?" He points behind you and says, "From there!" Turning around, you see a huge library of books. Slightly overwhelmed at the sight, you ask, "What is that?" A joyful, hearty laugh comes from deep in his belly. He says, "Teaching material!"

"You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever." Psalm 16:11

*The Bible has everything we need to know to whet our appetite for more revelation of the character and nature of God. There is a lot of material we do not know. But the Holy Spirit wants to reveal it to us one chapter at a time (sometimes one word or phrase at a time!). How hungry are you to know God? Allow this story to be the introduction to your own story.
